Q: What is the Fun Run and Obstacle Challenge? A: This is a Blanche Sims fundraising event. It promotes healthy activity and giving back to your school. ALL students will participate the day of the event. Children are asked to collect money where 100% of the collected funds will benefit Blanche Sims Elementary School.
Q: When is the Fun Run and Obstacle Challenge? A: Friday, October 7, 2016 during school hours.(Rain Date: Monday October 10th) Below is the list of participation times by grade. All students will receive a t-shirt to wear on the day of the Fun Run and Obstacle Challenge! After the event, its theirs to keep!
Q: How does my child participate in the fundraiser portion? A: Kindly have your child(ren) collect money from family and or friends and return the money collected in the envelope provided to your child’s teacher by Friday October 7, 2016, the date of the Fun Run and Obstacle Challenge. You can send in cash or checks. Checks can be made payable to the Blanche Sims PTO. You may also visit our website at blanchesimspto.com to use the PayPal option.
Q: How much money should my child collect? A: All amounts are welcome and help towards the schools goal of $6,000.00! Remember if each student brought in $35.00 we would meet our goal! There are prize incentives for specific amounts collected and NEW this year is a total family money raised prize incentive so help your child(ren) set a goal! Please see the attached flyer for fundraising incentive details.
Q: What does the money collected go towards? A: 100% of the money collected for the Fun Run and Obstacle Challenge will be used at Blanche Sims. It will go towards technology upgrades, field trips and their transportation, monthly Family Fun Night events, Ice Cream Social, Teacher Appreciation Week, annual Spring Fair and Silent Auction and LOHS Senior Scholarship to name a few!
Q: Who is welcome to come? A: Everyone! Parents, younger siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles are welcome to help cheer on the students! Bring bells and clappers if you want for that extra special boost! You can cheer on your students in the front of the building or around the back by the playground!
Q: What should kids wear? A: Gym shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather and that is easy to move in. All students will receive a special t -shirt to wear the day of our run and obstacle challenge! They will be running, jumping, climbing and even crawling!
Q: What happens when their participation time is over the day of the run and obstacle challenge? A: Students will enjoy a popsicle treat to cool off and then say goodbye to their cheering section and return to class.
All money collected should be turned in to your child’s teacher by Friday October 7th, the date of the Fun Run and Obstacle Challenge.
Below, you will find the incentives listed to encourage your children and donors to participate. A small prize will be given to students who turn in ANY amount of money that may not reach the suggested $35.00.

$75.00 & UP- Movie and popcorn at Oxford 7 Theater with Mrs. Goethals on a date TBD, Donut or Bagel Breakfast with Mrs. Goethals and a Blanche Sims Fun Run and Obstacle Challenge button.
New this year for families who may have multiple children in the building is Multiple Children Money Raised Incentives. You can combine the total amount of money raised by your children to earn the incentives below.
Multiple Children Money Raised Incentives
$75.00- Donut or Bagel Breakfast with Mrs. Goethals for each child attending Blanche Sims AND a Blanche Sims Fun Run and Obstacle Challenge button for each child attending Blanche Sims.
$125.00 & UP-Movie and popcorn at Oxford 7 Theater for each child attending Blanche Sims with Mrs. Goethals, on a date TBD, Donut or Bagel breakfast with Mrs. Goethals for each child attending Blanche Sims AND a Blanche Sims Fun Run and Obstacle Challenge button for each child attending Blanche Sims.
In addition to individual and multiple child prizes, the class that raises the most money will enjoy extra recess and cookies and display in their room the Fun Run and Obstacle Challenge trophy for the year!
